Originally catering to domestic flights from Cibao, it is now used exclusively for private charter flights. Aerolineas Mas was the primary domestic airline operating at this airport, offering flights to Santo Domingo-JBQ and Port-au-Prince.
With plans to expand its route to Punta Cana, Aerolineas Mas had established Cibao International Airport as its focus city. Air Century ceased regular domestic flights in Santiago. As a result, domestic flights are no longer available at this airport, with the international air terminal being the sole terminal in operation.
Air Force Base
In the past, Santiago airport functioned as an air base for the Dominican Air Force as a support facility. Nowadays there aren’t military planes based at this airport.
